Draining a Travel Trailer's Water Tank
As you think of your camping mission with your group, you are definitely going to need water as one of the basic commodities. For a great camping experience with friends, it would be thoughtful to hire a travel water tank trailer. It is necessary to learn how to drain the water tank in order to access the water while clean, sanitise and avoid moistening your camping site, and maintain a fresh smell around your environment. With a few tools and steps you will be able to access water from the tanker.
Tools and Materials Needed
To drain the trailer you will need a pair of gloves, a spray wand, and a garden hose. A small tool box will help in carrying the tools safely while on the road to avoid losing some of them.
Close the Valve
Use your gloves to close the water tank valve. This should be done at least 5 hours before flushing the tanker to access water for use. It will help in building up the necessary pressure to flush water with enough force.
Install sewage Drain Hose
The next step is to install the sewage drain hose into the septic drain. While doing this, confirm that all the fittings are well secured.
Open the Tanks Gate Valve to Discharge the Black Tank
Most tank valves have a T shape on the side with the larger discharging pipe. The tanks especially the black tank will drain better when they are almost full unlike when they have less water. It is important to remember that the black tank must drain completely before making an attempt to access water from your tanker. After draining it to completion, you may consider flushing clean water to clean its walls and wash away debris that collect in corners affecting the draining turbulence rate.
Draining the Travel Tanker
Proceed by opening the adjacent valve of the travel tanker. Unwind it completely to allow water while attaching the wand to the hose to rinse the tank well as it drains. Close the valve back tightly after draining is complete and everything has been flushed out. Take the hose off from the septic tank and clean it on the outside if need be.
It is advisable to empty your holding travel tank before you hit the road for your camping. This will help reduce the weight of your track which in turn reduces your fuel mileage.
